Level 2 picks up where "Intro to Victim Proof: Victim or Victor?" leaves off. If you attended the introduction class, then you're ready to continue the journey to becoming Victim Proof. If you haven't attended the introduction class, then click here: Intro to Victim Proof: Victim or Victor?

Classes are hands on and include physical exertion and contact. Students are paired up to role play and perform self-defense techniques. The class may discuss sensitive topics, such as abduction, sexual or domestic violence, physical attacks, physical attacks with weapons, and active shooter situations.

Class Description:
This situation awareness and self-defense class has a focus on empowering women in our community with the ability to become victim proof. We recommend you attend this class with a friend or family member, which promotes out-of-classroom discussion and takes learned techniques into real life.

Part 1: Situation Awareness & Avoiding Danger
Students continue learning how to avoid vulnerability and danger when in real-world situations.  Each week, and in each class, new situations are introduced, including being in an empty office, unsolicited sexual advancements, shopping, walking in parking lots, intentional car accidents, bus rides, domestic disputes, and more. An emphasis is placed on avoidance of high threat/target locations, reducing the risk of being targeted, and red flags for understanding when an attacker is approaching or in direct (verbal or physical) contact.

Part 2: Jiu Jitsu & Self-Defense Techniques
In the event a student cannot avoid a dangerous situation, and find themselves in the face of danger, they are prepared with advanced physical techniques influenced through Jiu Jitsu, including:

• Controlling a situation from the ground
• Locking up and neutralizing your attacker
• Forcing submission upon your attacker
• Defending an attackers physical strikes
• Defending against a standing attacker
• Escaping from a standing attacker
• Proper stance and movement while under duress
• Handling pushing and pulling
• Defending and escaping from all variants of wrist grabs
• Defending and escaping an embracing attacker (hugs)
• Defending and escaping chokes or grabs around the neck (front and rear)

Advanced techniques are practiced, including physically disabling an assailant, weapon disarming, weapon retention and improvised weapons. This class is recommended as a pre-cursor to other advanced classes including “Improvised Weapons with Steve Tarani”, and “Weapon Retention with Steve Tarani”.

This curriculum will instill our student with confidence, strength, dignity, and the ability to sense danger and react to it without further putting themselves or others at risk. Physical self-defense techniques also lead their way towards a more agile, aware, and able bodied athlete, including techniques valuable in contact sports like football, soccer, wrestling, and more. Additionally, these classes have the by-product of further building self-respect, self-worth and unity among peers and community.
