 Training class for Arizona Concealed Carry Permit



This 4 hour Concealed Carry Weapons course is an introduction to defensive decisions that address Law and Legal for Arizona State Laws, street threats, and the unique responsibilities that govern the use of non-lethal and deadly force. The fee for this course is $79.



Required for this course:

- Photo ID (drivers license, state issued id or passport)

- Must be a United States citizen or must be lawfully present in the United States

- Must be at least 21 years of age

- Not under indictment or been convicted of a felony in the U.S. or elsewhere

- Not convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence

- Not under court order (i.e. order of protection, harassment, etc.)

- Not a fugitive from justice

- Not a user of or addicted to any controlled substance

- Not been dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces

- Have never renounced U.S. citizenship

- Do not suffer from mental illness and have not been adjudicated mentally incompetent or committed to a mental institution



Fee includes: CCW Packet - Permit application paperwork, free fingerprinting.

Classes are hands on and include physical exertion and contact. Students are paired up to role play and perform self-defense techniques. The class may discuss sensitive topics, such as abduction, sexual or domestic violence, physical attacks, physical attacks with weapons, and active shooter situations.



Class Description:

This situation awareness and self-defense class has a focus on empowering women in our community with the ability to become victim proof. We recommend you attend this class with a friend or family member, which promotes out-of-classroom discussion and takes learned techniques into real life.



Part 1: Situation Awareness & Avoiding Danger

Students will learn how to avoid vulnerability and danger when in real-world situations, including being in an empty office, unsolicited sexual advancements, shopping, walking in parking lots, intentional car accidents, bus rides, domestic disputes, and more. An emphasis is placed on avoidance of high threat/target locations, reducing the risk of being targeted, and red flags for understanding when an attacker is approaching or in direct (verbal or physical) contact. Additionally, students will discuss “the bubble” and maintaining personal space, and using your voice.



Part 2: Jiu Jitsu & Self-Defense Techniques

In the event a student cannot avoid a dangerous situation, and find themselves in the face of danger, they are prepared with physical techniques influenced through Jiu Jitsu, including:



• Defending against a standing attacker

• Escaping from a standing attacker

• Proper stance and movement while under duress

• Handling pushing and pulling

• Defending and escaping from all variants of wrist grabs

• Defending and escaping an embracing attacker (hugs)

• Defending and escaping chokes or grabs around the neck (front and rear)



Advanced techniques are demonstrated, including those leading their way towards ground attacks and defense, physically disabling an assailant, weapon disarming, weapon retention and improvised weapons. These advanced techniques are part of the next level of Victim or Victor? Classes starting in early March 2017, and are a pre-cursor to other advanced classes including “Improvised Weapons with Steve Tarani”, and “Weapon Retention with Steve Tarani”. 



This curriculum will instill our student with confidence, strength, dignity, and the ability to sense danger and react to it without further putting themselves or others at risk. Physical self-defense techniques also lead their way towards a more agile, aware, and able bodied athlete, including techniques valuable in contact sports like football, soccer, wrestling, and more. Additionally, these classes have the by-product of further building self-respect, self-worth and unity among peers and community.

Women's Fundamentals of Defensive Pistol I         



 ***THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD AT OUR PHOENIX LOCATION***



This 4 hour ladies class is for the new shooter who has no experience and is looking to get started in personal protection. It is also for the shooter who has not decided which type of pistol is right for them. The fee for this course is $69. 



In this class we will cover the following items:

1. Firearm safety rules

2. Handgun ballistics

3. Handgun selection for a defensive pistol

4. Equipment selection

5. Ammunition selection

6. Loading and unloading

7. Fundamentals of marksmanship

8. Cleaning and maintenance



Equipment required for this course:

- Eye and ear protection (can be provided upon request)

- Defensive handgun, preferably with three magazines or speed loaders (can be rented day of the class - with the rental fee being waived)

- Ammunition - 50 Rounds



The fee for this course is $69.

This class is broken into different age groups, so students can learn alongside their peers. Classes are hands on and include physical exertion and contact. A parent is required to attend and participate in any youth class: parent participation is optional for the 13-17 age group (attendance is still required). Parents will be paired up with their child to role play and perform self-defense techniques. The class content is intended to be age appropriate, but please note this class discusses such topics as bullying and abduction.

This class is intended for both children and a parent, which promotes at home discussion and takes learned techniques out of the classroom and into real life.



Part 1: Situation Awareness & Avoiding Danger

Students and parents will learn how to avoid vulnerability and danger when in real-world situations, including walking to and from school/friends/park, waiting at a bus stop, being cornered by a bully, and more. An emphasis is placed on avoidance of high threat locations, reducing the risk of being targeted, and red flags for understanding when an attacker is approaching or in direct (verbal or physical) contact. Additionally, students will discuss “the bubble” and maintaining personal space, and zero tolerance policies as it pertains to school and home (answering the door, telephone, etc).



Part 2: Jiu Jitsu & Self-Defense Techniques

In the event a child cannot avoid a dangerous situation, and find themselves in the face of danger, they are prepared with physical techniques influenced through Jiu Jitsu, including:



• Defending against a standing attacker

• Escaping from a standing attacker

• Proper stance and movement while under duress

• Handling pushing and pulling

• Defending and escaping from all variants of wrist grabs

• Defending and escaping an embracing attacker (hugs)

• Defending and escaping chokes or grabs around the neck (front and rear)

• Defending and escaping chokes or grabs around the neck (front and rear)



Each class will introduce a new technique, which is intended to build upon the previous techniques your child learned.  They are practiced and reinforced throughout each class, so your child can effectively call upon them later, if ever required in real life.  Skills are built through role play with parents, repitition and games.  Your child will learn as much as they have fun, and your involvement opens communication and takes the class home.
